Accelerated Reader News

You need to have 7 points per trimester.  You may check out books from our school Library right after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 3:30 pm.  On Tuesday afternoons, Mrs. Balter will have the Library open for any students wishing to come in accompanied by their parent.   On Thursday afternoons, Mrs. Balter will pick up any students in the After School Care program that wish to visit the Library.  Mrs. Balter has posted the list of AR books on her website.  You don't have to check out the book from our Library but that certainly is an option.  Sixth graders must pick a book that is marked 5.0 (grade level) and above.  Seventh and eighth graders must pick a book that is marked 6.0 (grade level) and above.  Once you've read the book you need to take the test, and then bring me the printed score report.

Don't wait until the last minute, get started on your AR points!

DEADLINE - Thursday, February 23rd

GOOD WEBSITES TO TRY

These are links to some good websites that I have run into and think are worth taking a look at.

* Scholastic for kids and Scholastic for parents offer information, games and suggested readings.

* Study and review your Vocabulary words at: www.wordlywise3000.com

* Buy novels online at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

* When you need a definition or a similar word, try an online dictionary.

* Our local public library system has a very helpful website where you can request books, find library hours and discover community events.
