MERCIFUL FATHER
Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.
Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake. Amen.

You can
click below and take a look at -or print- the National Music Education curriculum
guidelines applied in part in our school by grade level, in combination with our own
specific Archdiocese of Miami music education curriculum. Keep in mind that
these are general guidelines and may differ in some measure from the actual
music lessons conducted in our school, both in objective and activities.
Obviously, we give great priority in our music classes to mass song singing
activities. All-round considered, it is safe to state that our children in SAS from PK4 to
Eight Grade have access to a diversity
of music objectives and activities; from music theory, classical and popular music history and music
appreciation, to vocal and instrumental responses -including coral singing, bells, hand
percussion instruments, drum kit, guitar and bass guitar- in order to
complete their elementary and middle school education with a "sound" musical background.

Music Director:
Mr. Jose A. Bornot
"...Sing unto the Lord a new
song..."
Psalm 96 - 98
IMPORTANT!
To: All parents of SAS
choir members.
From: Mr. J.A. Bornot /Choir Director.
Ref: New choir practice schedule / New choir robes
procedures.
Dear parents and SAS choir members,
First of all, WELCOME BACK to everyone, I hope all
enjoyed a wonderful and safe summer vacation. This note is to inform
you about a couple of new developments regarding our school choir's
activities for the school year 2010-2011.
The first information I would like to share with you
is regarding a change in our weekly choir practices. Please, be
advised that due to a number of reasons -including substantial
modifications within music class schedule this year-, effective
immediately, choir practices will take place on Tuesdays from 3:15
to 4:30 p.m. As the situation demands, all current choir members
must have the ability to meet that new schedule in order to
continue participating in choir activities. We sincerely apologize
for any inconvenience this arrangement may cause you and your
children. By the end of last school year I verbally informed the
choir about this possibility. Now indeed, the necessity of such a
change has become a fact. As always, in case of irreconcilable
schedule discrepancies, students interested in choir will be
required to make a choice. Subsequently, choir practices will begin
this year on Tuesday, August 24 at 3:15 p.m. in the music room, and
will continue on that schedule unless otherwise advised.
The second -and wonderful- development is that our
school has acquired brand new gowns for the choir this year. They
have already arrived. Color is snow white and the design looks
appealingly fit to me. I think our boys and girls will look nothing
short than angelical on their new choir robes. We are still working
on the acquisition of appropriate double sided tops on red and royal
blue according with the occasion. That's excellent news, isn't it?
The gowns will be numbered and distributed by size as soon as
possible. Both, students and parents, will be required to sign a
receipt form and will be committed to keep and care for the robes
throughout the school year. All gowns will be collected by the end
of the year, clean and in perfect shape as a part of the school
check out procedures.
We are grateful to Mrs. Glass and Mrs. Hernandez who
have dedicated a great deal of personal attention and effort to this
matter and to the Home and School Association who financed the
project. I would like to thank you too, parents and choir members,
for your continued support to all our choir club’s activities.
Should you have any question or suggestions, please feel free to
contact me, either personally or by email, my mail box or trough the
office.
Many Blessings - Mr. J.A. Bornot

Dear SAS students and parents:
This is a first cut
choir list for the academic school year 2010-2011. After considering all our
options, we have made the decision of keeping -for now- a tentative similar
size of registered choir membership as we had last year. We might not be able,
however, to take all choir members at the same time to all masses. Please, be
aware that additional auditions may still be required during the last week of
August to adjust the number of choir members and to give an opportunity to new
students to the school interested in choir. I would like to give thanks to all
the students who auditioned for me for the last two weeks. Unfortunately, I
cannot have all of you in choir. I wish I could: you are all gracious in my
sight! I would like also to congratulate the new members accepted. Hooray,
guys, you made it! Please, remember that beginning next year you might be
required to attend choir practices for a period of time to train your singing
skills before being eligible to sing in the masses. If you or your parents
have any question, please don’t hesitate to contact me trough the office.
Have a blessed and safe
summer vacation! – Mr. Bornot
NOTE:
Status of
Probation
or
Suspension
from
mass performance means that a student's choir membership is being
reviewed or restricted due to one or more of the
following:
- attendance problems
(student has reached 4 absences and /or tardiness to choir practices and
events during a trimester)
- behavioral problems (i.e., lack of interest, poor attention and
participation, talkative, off task, eating food, chewing gum, drinking
beverages without permission)
- performance problems
(i.e., poor singing skills development, not
resolved intonation or voice projection difficulties, lack of ability to
learn new songs at due pace)
As much as we regret it, failure to respond in
a positive way after any of the previous conditions had been individually
addressed may and will cause permanent
withdrawal from the choir, no exceptions.

"...We shall find

- Thomas Moore
June 1,
2009
Dear choir members and
parents,
Another school year
has come to an end. The faces on the two pictures above belong to SAS choir
members from the classes of 2006, 2007, 2008,
but mostly, class of 2009. In a year from now, the class of 2010
will graduate too, and none of these faces will be around anymore.
Many of them were not meant to remain as choir members by the time
of their graduation. Still, there is, and always will be a
fullness in my heart for having been a part of their lives for some
time, and for seeing them become the wonderful young men and women
they already are. I will never forget any of them, with their
successes, their failures, their ups and downs. They are to me the
salt of the earth and the very reason I wake up every morning with a
smile and hopes for a better day. Look at this picture
above
again. The moment I took it four years ago I knew I had captured a
unique glimpse of God's heavenly creatures. Also, read again this Thomas Moore's
quotation to the left and you will understand why I have kept these pictures for
so many years on my website. It defines how I have felt and will always continue to
feel about our SAS children.
Congratulations, Class
of 2009!
Many Blessings to all,
have a wonderful and safe summer vacation.
